| President elect Barack Obama's Change for the Second Amendment
Silver-tongued politicians are a dangerous lot when it comes to respecting and upholding our constitutional rights. Too often, we hear politicians state their support of the Second Amendment as it relates to hunting and recreational shooting. The last time I checked this is how the amendment reads: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free Sate, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." There is no reference to hunting. Any questions? This brings me to the next point. Senator John McCain and his team performed a brilliant political move with the selection of Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska. She is indeed a strict conservative whom has energized this previously neglected base of the Republican Party. It was reported that donations went up to and about ten million dollars within a couple of days after her selection. This speaks volumes. Along with being a life member of the National Rifle Association, Governor Palin does not carry the card for show but is very active in the shooting arena. In other words, she not only talks the talk but walks the walk. I do understand the frustration with a couple of positions Senator McCain has taken in the past. Given the options on the dark side, I would rather move toward the light. Case closed. Unfortunately, President Elect Barack Obama and Vice-President Elect Senator Joe Biden are a couple of rabid anti-gunners that have absolutely no respect for our constitutional rights. Senator Joe Biden crows about helping to write the 1994 Clinton assault weapons ban. It is proven this ban had no affect on fighting crime. During the NRA convention in Louisville, KY, they played a video in which Senator Obama was asked this question. Would you like to have every gun in America registered with the federal government? His response was we would not be able to do that just yet. Notice the last two words in the previous sentence. Senator Barack Obama has a ten-point plan to "Change" The Second Amendment. The following is courtesy of the National Rifle Association: 1. Ban the use of firearms for home defense. 2. Pass Federal Laws eliminating your Right-to Carry. 3. Ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns. 4. Close down 90% of the gun shops in America. 5. Ban rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting. 6. Increase federal taxes on guns and ammunition by 500 percent. 7. Restore voting rights for five million criminals including those who have been convicted of using a gun to commit a violent crime. 8. Expand the Clinton semi-auto ban to include millions more firearms. 9. Mandate a government-issued license to purchase a firearm. 10. Appoint judges to the U.S. Supreme Court and Federal judiciary who share his views on the Second Amendment. Senator Obama won November 4th and additional seats were gained in both houses favoring the dark side. You can now kiss the United States Constitution good by. The just yet will become reality.
